Discounts

Discounts let you reduce the cost of your event for your attendees. There are three types of discounts: early bird discounts, group discounts and discount codes.

Only one of each type of discount will ever be applied to each attendee in a registration. For example, if you have a discount for groups of two or more and another discount for groups of four or more, only one of those discounts will be applied to a group of five. In circumstances like this where a registration qualifies for more than one of the same type of discount, we will always apply the discount that will have the largest effect on the price.

Discounts will never take the total cost for an attendee below 0. So a $50 discount applied to someone's $10 registration will take their total cost to $0, not $-40.

Any discount's availabilty can be limited so that it is only applied to certain types of attendees. For example, you may have a discount code that students for you camp can use, but the parents can't. You can set these options by clicking the checkbox labeled "Only available to certain types of attendes", then selecting the appropriate attendee types. In this example, a registration with one parent and two students would receive a total of $20 off.

Discount Amounts

Discounts are applied to the total cost of each attendee that qualifies for it. A percentage based discount will deduct a percent of the total cost for each qualifying attendee including the cost of their add-ons. If you would rather not have the amount of the discount change based on add-on selections, you should use a flat rate discount.

Discount Expiration

You can use discount expirations to make discounts only valid when they are applied before a date. For example: "Save 10% when you use the code VOLUNTEER before April 1st."

Group and Family Discounts

PCO Registrations allows plenty of flexibility for group and family discounts. Below are examples of some common group discount patterns and how to set them up in PCO Registrations. You of course can adjust these to match your scenario.

 

$5 off every attendee in groups of 3 or more

This is the basic group discount. After a certain group size (3 in this example), give everyone a $5 discount. So if the price of the event is $15 per person, the total cost for a registration of 3 people will be $30.

In this example, we've set the discount to only apply to attendees after the threshold has been met. So if the cost for the attendee type is $25, then the first and second attendees would be charged $25, and each attendee after that would receive a $10 discount, making their cost only $15.

By setting the minimum group size to 1 and the discount to 100%, then the first person on the registration will be the only attendee charged for the event, the rest will all be free.
